Prenatal Paternity Testing NYC Services
Prenatal paternity testing is a DNA test performed while the mother is pregnant. There are currently two testing options available:
Invasive Prenatal Paternity Testing
Invasive testing requires the involvement of the mother’s OB-GYN and can only be performed during specific windows of pregnancy:
- Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS) — Performed during weeks 10–13 of pregnancy
- Amniocentesis — Performed during weeks 15–20 of pregnancy
Because both procedures carry some risk to the unborn fetus, most OB-GYNs will not perform either solely for the purpose of paternity determination.
Non-Invasive Prenatal Paternity Testing (NIPP)
NIPP does not require the involvement of an OB-GYN. The mother’s DNA is collected via blood draw, while the alleged father’s sample is collected via cheek swab.
Please note: DNA Tests NYC does not currently offer NIPP as a testing option. We encourage clients to contact our office to discuss available alternatives.
How much does a prenatal paternity test cost in New York City?
Pricing for legal paternity testing starts at $900.00. New York State requires that all legal paternity tests follow a chain of custody, meaning DNA samples must be collected in a certified office at-home testing is prohibited in New York. See pricing below.

What do I need to bring to my appointment?
New York State residents are required to provide one of the following documents before we can schedule an appointment listed below.
- Prescription referral from a NYS licensed doctor.
- A letter from NYS licensed Attorney.
- A court order from a judge.
All testing participants must bring valid government-issued identification (driver’s license, passport, or state-issued ID)
Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who can provide consent for testing.
What is the method of DNA sample collection?
DNA samples are collected using a painless buccal (cheek) swab. Blood samples can also be used and provide the same level of accuracy, but they are more invasive, painful and are more expensive.
